Our Philosophy Statement

Northside Christian F.C. Est.1988

WELCOME TO THE 2012 SEASON

from the   NORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN FOOTBALL CLUB Inc.   committee

We pray 2012 will be a rewarding experience for all our players, parents and club supporters - the NCFC Community. The following are a few points about how we see the Northside Christian Football Club fulfilling this aim :-

By fostering and encouraging Christian values through good sportsmanship, a sense of fair play, and the development of an individual's character and skills.

By improving the standard of football of every player and encouraging them to achieve their full potential, according to their God given abilities and gifting.
By encouraging an atmosphere where every player strives to do their very best for themselves and their team, without a “win at all cost and by any means” mentality.

By providing a positive atmosphere where players can participate in sport free from excessive or offensive displays of admonition, dissent, or inappropriate encouragement, from/towards/between players, spectators, or officials.

By providing the means where people can participate in sport on days other than Sundays or other Christian days of celebration.

By encouraging everyone associated with the club towards a belief in the Christian principles on which the Club is founded and respecting their right to belong to a denomination of their choice.

By striving to ensure everyone in the NCFC Community enjoys their experience over the season.

We warmly welcome all players, parents / grandparents / carers, and friends to the Northside Christian Football Club. We appreciate and respect the trust, enthusiasm and effort of everyone concerned and hope that together, we’ll achieve good outcomes in all aspects of our players’ development as football players and as outstanding people.

We accept that every player is entitled to be treated equally and fairly. They are unique, full of potential and enthusiasm and have aspirations, hopes and dreams of their own. Some may go on to make football a life-long enjoyment as players, coaches, referees, etc., while others may not. Some may be more serious than others about their sport. Some may even aspire to eventually play professionally, or semi-professionally. Whatever their case, we'll strive to make their time spent at Northside Christian Football Club a positive experience on which they can look back with pride and fondness.

Although we want our players to try their best for themselves and their team, we don't believe in a “win at all cost and by any means” mentality. We do believe in good sportsmanship, and that players should consistently learn, develop skills, and strive for continual improvement.

We will strive to provide every player and team with the training and support they need. We’ll endeavour to continually improve our own skills in coaching and management.

We hope everyone will get to know one another in the NCFC Community. Please introduce yourselves at training and matches. Help make new players and their families / carers welcome. Learn the names of all the players and their families / carers and encourage one another.

Please feel free to contact us via email, phone, or in person at a handy moment. If you have a suggestion or concern, or if you’re able to help in any way, let us know. We’ll always strive to be fair and helpful, and confidential if required.

Who can play
Everyone is welcome at the Northside Christian Football Club. If you have a desire to play football, are willing to adhere to our association's Codes of Conduct, and our Club's Policies & Rules, can complete the Player Registration process, and can arrange to get to your training sessions and matches, you should be able to play. Players aren't limited to any particular school, beliefs, zone or region. If it suits you to be part of the Northside Christian Football Club community, you're welcome.

When / Where we train

Training times and locations are usually worked out between the coaches and players as soon as possible as a new pre-season / season gets underway. Your team's coach / manager will let you know your training times as soon as they can.

The Tiny Tots Programme is held on Friday afternoons at Darien Street Sports Fields, Bridgeman Downs.

Junior teams usually train during the week in the afternoons at Darien Street Sports Fields, Bridgeman Downs.

Senior teams usually train at night during the week at floodlit fields other than Darien Street.

Where we play

Darien Street Sports Fields at Bridgeman Downs are Northside Christian Football Club's home ground. This means that most, if not all, of a team's designated Home matches are played there. Depending on the availability of grounds over the season some Home matches may be played on other fields. Conversely, most Away matches are played at other fields - at the Home grounds of the opponent teams.

Tiny Tots Programme will be held at Darien Street Sports Fields at Bridgeman Downs.

Younger age group's Away matches are generally played at relatively near-by fields against other local QCSA clubs and teams.

Older age groups may play against teams from a larger geographical region, and therefore older age group's Away matches will often involve longer travelling distances.

Seniors may play against teams from a larger geographical region, and therefore Senior's Away matches will often involve longer travelling distances.

When we play

The Tiny Tots Programme is held on Friday afternoons.

Junior age groups play on Saturdays. Younger ages play in the mornings starting from around 8:00am with progressively older ages playing later over the course of the day.

Senior teams play on Saturdays typically after midday and later in the afternoon.

Over 30s and over 40s play on Friday nights.

Player Assessment

When players are placed in teams of similar abilities, against opponents of similar abilities, their self belief in having a genuine chance to achieve lifts their enthusiasm, application and enjoyment. It also helps to achieve a fairer playing field where everyone has more chances to shine, achieve and improve, and to feel an important part of their team. Playing in divisions either too hard, or too easy tends to reduce everyone's enjoyment of the game.

Under 9 to Seniors

Players are required to attend pre-season training and assessment sessions. Every effort will be made by the Club to place each player in a team suited to their age and abilities. In the case where there's only one division in an age group and we have enough players to form two or more teams in that division, the teams will be as evenly matched as possible.

Under 7 & Under 8

These ages play QCSA Rooball - Modified Soccer (Six-a-Side). Players are required to attend pre-season training sessions. A process is applied in accordance with the Queensland Christian Soccer Association's ( QCSA ) Age & Competition Guidelines. There's two  or three categories in each zone (A, B, C). Players are assigned to teams based on their age and previous experience as follows:

U7 A - For experienced, returning and stronger teams
U7 B - For those teams where the majority of players are new
U7 C - For those teams where the majority of players are U5s or U6s

U8 A - For experienced, returning and stronger teams
U8 B - For those teams where the majority of players are new

Note: The A, B & C categories are not strictly enforced by QCSA, but are guidelines to assist with where to place players. However, placing them in the wrong group only hurts the players in all teams.

Note: There are no records / results kept in these age groups and there are no finals. However, there are Carnival Days at the end of the season.

NCFC Tiny Tots Programme - 3 to 5 Year Old

A process is applied in accordance with the Queensland Christian Soccer Association's ( QCSA ) requirements. These players are assigned to teams based on their age and ability.

Players MUST be at least 3 years old to participate in this programme.
