Our Philosophy Statement

Northside Christian F.C. Est.1988

WELCOME TO THE 2012 SEASON

from the   NORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN FOOTBALL CLUB Inc.   committee

We pray 2012 will be a rewarding experience for all our players, parents and club supporters. The following are a few points about how we see the Northside Christian Football Club fulfilling this aim :-

By fostering and encouraging Christian values through sportsmanship, a sense of fair play, and development of an individual's character.

By encouraging an atmosphere where every player strives to do their best, without a “win at all cost” mentality.

By providing the means where people can participate in sport on days other than Sundays or other Christian days of celebration.

By encouraging everyone associated with the club towards a belief in the Christian principles on which the Club is founded, respecting their right to belong to a denomination of their choice.

By improving the standard of football of every player and encouraging everyone to achieve their full potential, according to their God given abilities and gifting.

By providing a positive atmosphere where players can participate in sport free from excessive or offensive displays of admonition, dissent or inappropriate encouragement, from/towards/between players, spectators, or officials.

By striving to ensure everyone enjoys their experience over the season.

We warmly welcome all players, parents / grandparents / carers, and friends to the Northside Christian Football Club. We appreciate and respect the trust, enthusiasm and effort of everyone concerned and trust that together we’ll achieve good outcomes in all aspects of our players’ development as football players and as outstanding people.

We accept that every player is entitled to be treated equally and fairly and are a unique and special soul, full of potential, enthusiasm, aspirations, hopes and dreams of their own. Some may go on to make football a life-long enjoyment as players, coaches, referees, etc., while others may not. Some may be more serious than others about their sport. Whatever the case, we want to make their time spent in a Northside Christian FC team a positive experience on which they can look back with pride and fondness.

We believe the most important thing isn't winning, but consistently learning and developing skills and showing continual improvement, always trying our best, and finding enjoyment and respect, personally and as a team.

We’ll try our best to provide every player and team with the training and support they need. We’ll endeavour to continually improve our own skills in coaching and management.

We hope everyone will get to know one another. Please introduce yourselves at training and matches. Help make new players and their carers welcome. Learn the names of all the players and carers and encourage one another.

Please feel free to contact us via email, phone, or in person at a handy moment. If you have a suggestion or concern, or if you’re able to help in any way, let us know. We’ll always strive to be fair and helpful, and confidential if required.

Who can play
Everyone's welcome at Northside Christian FC. If you've a hankering to play football, are willing to adhere to our association's Codes of Conduct, can complete the Player Registration process, and can arrange to get to your training sessions and matches, you should be able to play. Participants aren't limited to any particular school, beliefs, zone or region. If it suits you to be part of the Northside Christian FC community you're welcome.

When / Where we train
Training times and locations are usually worked out between the coaches and players as soon as possible as a new season gets underway. Your team's coach / manager will let you know your training times as soon as they can.

Junior teams usually train during the week in the afternoons at Darien Street Sports Fields. This is preferred by some as it gets the training over with before young player's usual homework, bath and dinner times and so doesn't require an extra trip out later in the evening after dinner etc. and a late night to bed. Senior teams usually train at night during the week at lit fields other than Darien Street.

Where we play
Darien Street Sports Fields at Bridgeman Downs are Northside Christian FC 's home ground. This means that most, if not all, of a team's designated Home matches are played there. Depending on the availability of grounds over the season some Home matches may be played on other fields. Conversely, most Away matches are played at other fields - at the Home grounds of the opponent teams.

Younger age group's Away matches are generally played at relatively near-by fields against other local QCSA clubs and teams. Older age groups may play against teams from a larger geographical region, and therefore older age group's Away matches will often involve longer travelling distances.

When we play
Junior age groups play on Saturdays. Younger ages play in the relative cool of the mornings starting from around 8:00am with progressively older ages playing later over the course of the day. Senior teams typically play after midday and later in the afternoon. Over 30 or Over 40  teams typically play on Friday evenings.

Grading

U9+   The club will grade U9 and above players into teams of similar abilities to give everyone the best opportunity to achieve their best.

Grading only applies where we've enough players to form two or more teams in a single age group AND where there's at least two divisions in that age group. Players may be required to attend pre-season grading sessions.

U7 & U8   A different process is applied in accordance with the Queensland Christian Soccer Association's ( QCSA ) requirements. These players are assigned to teams based on their age and previous experience as follows...

U7 Div A - players turning 7 who've played previously
U7 Div B - players turning 7 who've not played previously
U7 Div C - players turning 5 or 6

U8 Div A - players turning 8 who've played previously
U8 Div B - players turning 8 who've not played previously

When players are in teams of similar abilities, against opponents of similar abilities, their consequent belief in having a genuine chance to achieve lifts their enthusiasm, application and enjoyment. Playing in divisions either too hard or too easy tends to reduce enjoyment of the game. Grading helps to achieve a fairer playing field where everyone has more chances to shine, achieve and improve, and to feel an important part of their team.
